Bob Beatty Memorial Award

Congratulations past award winners!
The Bob Beatty Memorial Award is presented every year to an outstanding young athlete from the Fort Hunt area.  It was created in 1995 by the Fort Hunt Sportsmen’s Association in memory of Mr. Robert Beatty, who was a tireless supporter of local youth athletics throughout his life, and a member of the Association for many years.  The Association’s Board of Directors makes the selection of the award winner.
The criteria for selection of the award winner are:
  1. Dedication to athletics, demonstrated by participation, achievement, and leadership in youth athletic programs.  Superior achievement is not necessary - the primary focus is on dedication to sports.  Participation can be as a player, coach, or umpire/referee.
  2. Dedication to scholastics, demonstrated by working hard in school with the intention of obtaining a quality higher education.
  3. Dedication to community service, demonstrated by participation on one or more service programs.

The Award consists of a plaque and a gift certificate at a store that sells sports equipment, athletic apparel or footwear.  In order to avoid the possibility of complicating the athlete’s future eligibility for amateur athletics, the certificate is not redeemable for cash.
